OUTREACH PROGRAMS
SUMMER FESTIVAL
In 2009, our Artist-in-Residence status at Elgin Academy made it possible to inaugurate an
extensive summer program of master classes, performances, and community outreach. All
finalists of our annual Vocal Competition were invited to be featured, together with members
of the Elgin OPERA Training ensemble, student and professional singers from throughout
Chicagoland, and guest artists from Opera Moda and Chamber Opera Chicago.
The two-month festival culminated in an evening of staged opera scenes, including a full production of Puccini's Suor Angelica, featuring soprano Marcy Stonikas, winner of Division IV and the "Most Promising Artist" award in our 2009 Vocal Competition, in the title role.

The summer of 2010 will see an expanded series of performances and educational opportunities as this exciting program continues to grow.
